The Live Nation produced and ING sponsored Jennifer & Marc En Concierto tour made its second stop at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville on October 3rd after a two-night opening in Atlantic City. For the third consecutive year Marc Anthony has joined forces with these two corporations to headline a Latin tour that uniquely joins the talents of the biggest artists in Latin music. This year Marc was joined by his wife, superstar Jennifer López for this third edition of the Juntos en Concierto series. This tour marks the first time that Jennifer has ever gone on the road and presented her body of music live.
Marc Anthony opened the evening to an enthusiastic crowd with the brand new single, the santería-themed “Aguanile” from the soundtrack to El Cantante. Receiving an immediate response from the sold out arena Marc continued with a spicy rendition of his classic, “Valio La Pena”. Before singing the hit English ballad, “You Sang to Me”, Marc explained to the crowd that he wrote the song 8 years ago for one of the cutest girls he ever met who today happens to be his wife.
After this song Marc asked the crowd if they wanted more salsa? The response was unanimous and he immediately started singing, “Mi Gente” the Héctor Lavoe classic that got the audience to their feet.
His strong voice and band resonated within the arena the tropical hits that have made Marc the undisputed king of salsa, included in his eleven song set was “Te Conozco Bien”, “Hasta Ayer”, “Tu Amor Me Hace Bien” “Ahora Quien” and “Y Hubo Alguien”.
Marc finished his performance with his mega hit “I Need to Know” which left no one sitting.
Immediately following Marc’s performance, amongst light effects and explosions Jennifer López appeared beginning her performance with the brand new song, “Do It Well” from her new English album Brave.
With several dancers and special effects Jennifer who made three costume changes all of which being very bulky and non revealing offered many of her biggest hits including “If You Had My Love”, which she reminded the audience started it all, and a medley of her number one hip-hop songs, “I’m Real”, “Ain’t That Funny” and “All I Have”.
Throughout her performance Jennifer sang some of the songs included on her first Spanish language album, Como Ama Una Mujer. It was during these renditions of “Me Haces Falta”, “Que Hiciste” “Porqué Te Marchas” and “Te Voy A Querer” where her vocals were showcased and she truly connected with the audience.
Her performance was no match for Marc’s high-energy opening set and veteran live performer experience but Jennifer kept the crowd engaged with the familiarity of many her songs.
She finished up with her most memorable English hits “Waiting For Tonight”, “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” and “Get Right” all of which showcased her unparalleled choreography.
During her final song, “Let’s Get Loud” the arena filled with confetti and a series of fireworks and explosions.
The encore finally brought Marc and Jennifer together for two songs, the newly recorded “Por Arriesgarnos” from Jennifer’s Spanish album and the first duet they ever recorded, the number one “No Me Ames”.
Following the song Marc and Jennifer said goodnight and holding each other were lowered together beneath the stage.
The concert was a memorable experience, offering a one of a kind blend of music, effects and included some of the biggest pop and salsa songs from our generation from one of the most successful couples in the world. |
